May I, Gisela Wache, initiator and first board member, introduce you to the non-profit association Lernbridge - Village School Project Sri Lanka, founded in 2024, and its students and explain the background and motivation for this new foundation?
It started with this,
I registered for an Ayurveda Panchakarma treatment at the Ayubowan Ayurveda Center in Bad Berleburg at the end of the pandemic. A few weeks before the start of the treatment, I had a mild coronavirus infection, which wasn't too bad. However, during the cure I got a severe spasm in my diaphragm, which usually ends fatally as heart failure. Thanks to my own immediate treatment with Jin Shin Jyutsu (I have been practicing this healing art for almost 30 years) and the swift intervention of the Ayurveda doctors there, I survived. However, I had to deal with a temporary spinal cord injury from the 5th thoracic vertebra. And here I was able to experience how selflessly all the Singalese staff at this Ayurveda center were really there for me around the clock, taking care of me, looking after me medically, really checking on me and my needs day and night. Never before in my life have I been able to experience and accept such concentrated helpfulness, support and unconditionality.
Further stays at this wonderful facility followed over the years. The first “intensive encounter” gradually turned into more and more friendship with the staff. And in 2023, I received an invitation to take part in a family vacation in Sri Lanka.

A unique experience, deeply touching, gaining a new “family” and indescribable insights into culture, religion and living conditions - this is how I would describe these days. during a deep meditation I got the impulse to help the people, especially the young people in this country, for a better life perspective, to support them for a good future.
What could be better than encouraging them to learn? The village schools in Sri Lanka are unfortunately very spartanly equipped and receive hardly any funding or support from the government. Back home, a fundraising campaign was launched for a new tuk-tuk for our driver in Sri Lanka with an overwhelming response. In just 4 weeks the money was raised and more. My humble thanks for this knows no bounds.
Now it was time to found this non-profit association. The aim and task is to equip the village schools in Sri Lanka with donations in kind, such as books, musical instruments, picture material, computers, picture boards, etc. to improve teaching. In addition, I also support pupils with writing utensils, exercise books and, if necessary, with the purchase of school uniforms. My great vision is to be able to teach the children how to help themselves to Jin Shin Jyutsu during my future visits to these sponsored schools.

The association's name “Lernbridge” stands directly for what it does. Here on the German side of the “bridge”, the association collects the necessary funds through membership fees, money and donations in kind in order to fulfill the wishes of the village schools on the other side of the bridge through an absolutely honest intermediary, Mr. Bihan Perera, himself a teacher.
